Citizens of Luthoria,
As we gather around our nation today with friends and family for this wonderful time of youthful celebration of St. Patrick, let us remember the man that bore this name, and his amazing story.
St. Patrick was taken as a slave by pirates and sold to people in Ireland, where he spent 6 years there as a slave, before being able to go back home to England. Later in life, after devoting his life to Christ and the Church, St. Patrick did something that not many people would want to do. He went back to the land of Ireland, the land where he had been inslaved, because he wanted to reach the pagen people of that land for Christ. This is one of the most amazing missionary stories of the western world, and should serve as an example to us all, to follow the 'golden rule' "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Matthew 7:12)".
St. Patrick showed love and compassion to the people in the land where he had once been a slave. He did not come back in anger or bitterness, but with love and kindness. As we go about our days this week, and this month, let us strive to be like St. Patrick, who was ultimately striving to be like Christ our Lord, by going out to those in need and showing them kindness, love, and mercy.
Thank you all, and I pray that you have a glorious holiday! God Bless all the people of Luthoria this day!
