The chambers of the Luthorian Grand Parliament are packed. A little over two hours ago, the palace announced that the King would be making 'one of his most important speeches all year' tonight in the Parliament Hall. Government officials have dropped their plans and made quick arrangements to ensure they could be here. Thousands more will be watching at home, as this speech will go out live on all major TV and radio channels
The Chamber Steward comes into the main entrance:
Ladies and Gentlemen, His Majesty, Mo'i Kakali I, King Of Luthoria!
As he says this, King Kakali enters the chamber as all those assembled rise and give their king a standing ovation. Eventually, the King makes it up to the speakers lecturn:
"Members of the Royal Government, Distinguished Guests, and all Luthorians watching and listening at home,
I have come to speak to you tonight in this great and important chamber to admit a wrong that has been done on my part. You see, nearly 10 months ago, when I suspended Luthoria's constitution, I went outside the bounds of the law. Legally, only Parliament can dissolve our government. I am not going to appologize for this action, for we were in a time of extreme crisis, and had I not acted I truely believe that Luthoria would not be here today.
That said, the Luthoria if today is not the Luthoria of 10 months ago! We are active, and we are growing. Therefore, there is NO justification for keeping things in Royal control. So, as of this moment, The Cobstitution of Luthoria, that was created in convention in November of 2007 is hereby reinstated."
The Chamber erupts in applause as the people rise to give the King a standing ovation
"Now, acting in my Constitutional duties as Chairman of the Royal Electoral Commission, I hereby announce that we will hold elections for parliament and an election for a special half term for the office of Minister of State on Monday, April 6, 2009. From now until then, Fintan Egan, who has served us for nearly two months as Royal Chancellor, will serve as Interim Minister of State, and have all the powers and responsibility granted to that high office. And I hereby appoint the following people to serve as the members of the Interim Parliament: Reliba Enya for New Hawaii, Issac Landevaso for Emeraldia, Brian O'Gara for Germania, and Guido Zambelis for Luthoria. And, without further adiou, I hereby call this special interim session of parliament to order!"
Those in the chamber again give the King a standing ovation
"In the next few days, I will be presenting to this parliament a series of amendment and legislative proposals that will help us update our governance to reflect the changes in our society over the past 10 months. With the help of everyone, we will make Luthoria great, building upon our past to create for ourselves and our descendants a far nor glorious future.
Now, before I go, there is one more piece of business to attend to. Mr. Egan, would please join me here at the podium so we can swear you in as Minister of State."
the chamber is again filled with applause as Mr Egan asscends to join the King at the speakers podium.
"Mr Egan, if you would, please place your right hand on this Bible and repeat the following:
'I, Fintan Egan, will do my best to serve this nation, to follow, uphold, and protect the Constitution of the United Kingdom of Luthoria, and to follow, to the best of my ability, the will of the people of this Kingdom.'
