Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today is a sad and happy day. 1 year ago today, our predecessor, the Irish Republic of Emeraldia, was established as a soverign micronation. Emeraldia had so many plans, such high hopes, and such great dreams. Tragically, they will never come true. Hopefully, we, as Luthorians, can learn from past mistakes and make Luthoria and the world a more peacefull place.
May we look at Emeraldia's example and resolve ourselves to unify. May we resolve ourselves to put aside petty differences and become one people. I know that we will never all see eye-to-eye on every subject, but lets not let small arguements fester into nation-destroying issues. Forgive and forget.
I would like to ask each one of you to post some of your fonder memories of Emeraldia, posative memories to inspire us to become even greater.
Personally, I always enjoyed the voting and the elections. It was fun when it really got going. I also enjoyed seeing the active legislature that we had of and on. It was fun to see democracy in action.
I also enjoyed the 'expeditions' and other simulations that we did. The economy, the exploring, even the scientific discoveries. I will always remember how our Secretary of Science 'invented' our first airplane, and was 'pushed' off a cliff to get going by the Secretary of Defense. I always laughed at that. I really do miss all the fun and lightheartedness that we had at the begining. It is my hope that Luthoria will carry on this memory, and become even greater.
